DebutDay Help Centre Tips & Pointers 1. Content DebutDay is a great way of attracting attention and if used carefully can provide you with essential exposure that will help you launch yourself. So, think carefully about what you want to say and make the best use of your space by making your presentation punchy, informative and to the point. Don’t waffle, stick to the main facts and state clearly your objectives and what you are looking for in terms of help or third party interest in your proposal. 2. Sensitive Information Don’t give too much away if your product or concept is sensitive to patent or copyright considerations. For example, if you have invented a wonder formula that will make us all live forever, don’t list it in detail for all to see. Telling the World you have perfected the product is one thing, telling them how they can do it without you would be madness. So, keep sensitive information closely guarded and protect your idea. Details of copyright and patent agencies can be found on the home page as a start to finding good advice on protection. 3. Use of Photos Make good use of your opportunity to feature photographs and illustrations to present yourself and your project. Readers will find it easier to communicate with you if there is a human element to your story. A picture of yourself may be as helpful as a picture of your product. Let people know you are not a two headed Martian or a crazy professor. (Two headed Martians and crazy professors are of course equally welcome to use DebutDay! 4. Contact Information Make sure that you give complete information on how you can be contacted. Your Website, an address or telephone number are essential. You can include your Email address too within your written details, though interested parties can contact you through the ‘Contact Debutee’ facility on each project page. The benefit of this is that your email address is not displayed thereby helping to avoid attracting SPAM. 5. Communications Once you start making contact with enquirers make sure you effect all due diligence to satisfy yourself that you know who you are dealing with. Never offer any confidential information to anyone until you are certain of whom they are. Don’t let your enthusiasm and excitement get in the way of good common sense. Treat your information with the utmost respect and never trust anyone until you have satisfied yourself of their integrity. Even then, we suggest you ask all you deal with to sign a “Non Disclosure Agreement”, this will at least verify that a conversation has taken place and information exchanged, should you need to prove so at a later date. 6. Beware of Bogus Approaches Beware of bogus approaches from anyone you can’t check out. If you are not sure get advice. You are always welcome to contact DebutDay to check to see if we are aware of anyone you should avoid. 7. DebutDay Policy DebutDay’s policy is essentially to assume that everyone is good and that likeminded individuals can benefit from an economic and creative intercourse through an open and proactive community. However, this is the real World and we must all take steps to protect our own interests. DebutDay cannot accept any responsibility for the actions of anyone outside of our control. 8. Spread the Word Don’t forget to tell everyone about DebutDay and direct them to the site to find your information. The more awareness we can create for the site the better it is for you and everyone else. Word of mouth is still the best form of advertising for your project so direct people to your presentation and help spread the word. 9. Keep Info Updated Keep your information up to date and current at all times. If you have developments to announce make sure you include the information, if relevant, within your presentation. 10. Tell Us of Your Successes! If you have a success with your venture please tell us about it so we can feature you on the site. This will give you even more free exposure and help others to see that what has happened for you, could equally happen for them with a little help from DebutDay!
